Choice, is the act of hesitation we make, before we make a decision.
It is a mental teeter-totter.
And then we are always with the thorn of doubt, regarding whether we behave in the right way, do the right things and lack a certain kind of confidence in ourselves.
And if you see that you lack confidence, you will make mistakes, out of sheer indecision.
But if you have confidence in yourself, you can get away with doing the wrong things.
You have to consider yourself as a cloud in the flesh.
Because you see, clouds never make mistakes. Have you ever seen a cloud that had a bad shape? Have you ever seen a poorly designed wave?
No, they always do the right thing.
But if you treat yourself, for a moment, like a cloud or wave. And you realize that you can’t make a mistake, whatever you do.
Because even if you get to do something that seems to be completely disastrous anyway you will come out one way or another.
So through this ability, you will develop a kind of confidence and through confidence you will be able to trust your own intuition.
But in this way it’s on the record, knowing that has nothing to do with your decision to do this or not.
Even if you decide that you can’t make a mistake, or even if you don’t decide, it’s true anyway….
That you are like a cloud of water.
And through that realization, without overcompensating in the other direction, you will get to the point where you will begin to be on good terms with your own self, and be able to trust your own brain.
Alan Watts’ philosophy.
